An update ... here we go.

For the last semester I felt very stagnant, very ... um ... dead almost. I equate this feelingto being in a rut. The crazy thing about this though is that I am 22 years old (still cringing at the thought of it) and have a list of things that are going on in my life. I am feeling much better now though. Since starting my CPA prep classes and also leaving McDonald's all is well.

So let me try and explain the frustration I was feeling. Anytime the thought of work entered my mind, I immediately got depressed and semi-sad. Its not like it was noticable; but it was happening internally. I didn't like it all. It could happen in the middle of a day off at the very thought of going the next day. It could happen at 9AM in the morning, even though I was working at 6PM.

In fairness, McDonald's has been a great place to work. It has taught me things I could never learn in a book. It contradicted things in my studies about direct employee management, compensation systems, and motivation. More importantly I learned from the owner how NOT to treat my managers and employees if I ever owned my own business. Overall though, I made a lot of close friends with different types of people I know I would have never met if I stayed locked in the University bubble. The unmatchable experential knowledge has outweighed the aggrevation.

So anyway I officially left McDonalds last Wed. I had a couple interviews and got a couple offers. I had a list of ideal qualities for a company. Growth-focused, strong revenue performance for the last 3-5 years, at 15-20 years of operation, publically-traded, a defined relationship with a particular industry, travel at least 50% of the time, a strong international standing, and the opportunity to work with all aspects of the operations. I found it with Amdocs.

I was hired as a business analyst/project consultant. Check them out www.amdocs.com.

Other than that, I have been taking CPA prep classes. These are held in Chicago, on Saturdays from 8AM-5PM. GUH! The first test is in mid-January on Financal Accounting and Reporting. After passing this exam I have three more. If all goes according to plan, I should be done by April. Who knows?

I also have no clue when I am going to leave for the Peace Corps. I still want to go, but I must get my CPA first. Otherwise, I know that I may never get it! I am not going to get into my purpose for getting the CPA, but it has nothing to do with practicing public accounting.

Hmmm ... I am going to get into relationships either. As I write this I get more and more bored with the idea of updating Xanga. This will be the last entry for a while.

Floating...

I think it is a telling sign that I got to my own journal via another journal. This was necessary because I took the link out of my AIM, off of my favorites. I guess I don't have the motivation.

Quick update:

CPA classes start Nov 27 and will run through June.
I am leaving Sunday for NYC to visit b-schools this week.

I suppose there is more to talk about. But, I just don't want to do it. I am done.
